Pascale Maslin, Founder

Pascale Maslin, inspired by those who want to improve their own energy efficiency, founded Energy Efficiency Experts in 2007 to give people the tools and knowledge they need to make the small energy improvements that make the biggest differences in their energy consumption and comfort.

Her unique style of personalized energy audits takes clients on a tour through their own homes and offices, helping them discover things they never knew about the way their building is constructed.  Each audit begins with an analysis of the client’s utility bills, which are graphed against data collected by Pascale from different types of buildings across the DC region.  At the end of the attic-to-basement inspection, the client is walked through the premises and shown were the most egregious leaks are occurring.  All leaks, with photographs, are included in a report given to the client that details recommended next steps and advice about appliances, lighting, and contracting for any bigger projects.  The power of the report, however, is that it gives instruction on the basic repairs that clients can easily undertake for themselves.

“A few caulk guns, a can of foam, a weekend, and you can reduce your utility bills by twenty to thirty percent.”

Pascale has devoted her life’s work to environmental preservation.  She holds a Masters Degree in Environmental Science from the University of Arizona.  Her training includes eight years on a scientific research vessel conducting whale and dolphin research; leading rainforest, marsh, and coral reef collection expeditions for the Biosphere II project; and acting as a construction coordinator for the biosphere in 1990 where she collaborated with architects, scientists, and construction teams to design and build the biomes, which would sustain life in the biosphere.  In 1994 Pascale was closed inside the self-sustaining biosphere for 6 months, charged with maintaining and operating the electro-mechanical systems.

She moved to the Washington, DC region in 1999, organizing and conducting logistically challenging pollution delineation projects and making cleanup recommendations. As part of her commitment to local involvement, Pascale co-founded the Cool Capital Challenge, a campaign to reduce metro DC's carbon dioxide emissions by 1 billion pounds by Earth Day 2008 and an additional 2 billion pounds by Earth Day 2009.

“Pascale understands homes the way doctors understand human bodies.  She knows how they breathe, where their energy circulates, how to make them healthier.”

After a career of learning the different ways we interact with our environment, Pascale wanted to share this knowledge and help others apply it to their own lives.  Although she had extensive experience in environmentally conscious construction, she completed training in HERS (Home Energy Rating System) provided by RESNET.  She has now performed hundreds of personalized audits across the DC region.

“This is how I make a difference.  Going into people’s homes, connecting with them, inspiring them to reduce their carbon footprint.”
