How We Work
With the housing market in a national decline, selling homes is becoming more and more difficult, especially as consumers are looking for more than a place to lay their heads at night. They want a home that is energy efficient and that will save them money in this time of rising utility bills. Further, with a growing concern for the environment, homeowners seek eco-friendly lodging that will decrease their carbon footprint. Fortunately, Energy Efficiency Experts can help these dreams become a reality while at the same time increasing the re-sale value of the homes entering the market.
The Home Energy Efficiency Tuneup
As when working with homeowners, we begin the process with an in-home consultation. Lasting approximately three hours, our Energy Efficiency Expert will work through to discover the home’s energy use and identify opportunities for immediate, short-term and long-term savings.
Some of the improvements, such as weather-stripping doors and sealing the top floor from the attic will be done as part of the inspection at no additional charge. Inspectors also carry a number of items available for purchase at retail price, such as compact florescent bulbs and powerstrips, in the event that you wish to implement some changes immediately.
Within a week of the tune-up you’ll receive a written report with recommendations for other improvements that will result in significant energy savings. Once you and the homeowner have agreed on what changes will generate the greatest return on investment, we can implement those changes or make the appropriate recommendations. Further, after the changes have been made, we will produce a new report documenting the increased energy efficiency of the home as well as a booklet with suggestions and tips for the prospective homebuyer on how to maximize energy efficiency. What a great way to increase property value and please your customer with a speedy sale!
