Home Owners
Some clients contact us because they have an on-going concern for the environment. In addition, energy prices have risen over the past year and many consumers feel choked by spiraling costs. But apart from purchasing a fuel-efficient car or recycling, many people don’t know how to help the environment and save money. We integrate concerns of both politics and pocketbook with practical, tangible solutions that save energy and money.
The Home Energy Efficiency Audit
We start the process off by scheduling an in-home consultation. Lasting approximately three hours, our technician will work through an extensive checklist to discover your current home energy use and identify opportunities for immediate, short-term and long-term savings.
A thorough basement to attic tour, the audit includes such essential aspects as checking water systems, a review of household appliances, seals of windows and doors and an evaluation of your home’s phantom loads.
Some of the improvements, such as weather-stripping the doors and sealing your top floor from the attic will be done as part of the inspection at no additional charge. Our technicians also carry a number of items available for purchase at retail price, such as compact florescent bulbs and power strips, to help you implement additional changes immediately.
Within several days of the tune up you’ll receive a written report with recommendations for more improvements you can make. Many of these will be things you can easily do yourself, but for the more involved jobs, such as installing more energy efficient windows or proper air conditioning/heating system maintenance, we are happy to recommend accredited local contractors.
With our tune up and continuing strategies, economic growth and environmental protection go hand in hand to provide you with savings of about $2,000 a year!
